Account and Data Deletion – gotgas.co.za and the Got Gas App

This page allows you to manage your personal information associated with gotgas.co.za and the Got Gas app.

How to request deletion

  • Log in to your account or the Got Gas App.

  • Go to My Account → Data Management.

  • Select the arrow to the right of Delete My Account,

  • Enter "DELETE" into the textbox to confirm and then click on "Yes, please delete my account!" to permanently remove your account and associated data.

  • Click here to do this.

What happens when you delete your account

When you confirm deletion, we will permanently remove:

  • Your profile information (name, email, phone, account details)

  • Communication preferences and login credentials

What may be retained

Some information may be kept after account deletion if required by law or for legitimate business purposes, including:

  • Financial records and invoices (retained for up to [X years] under South African tax and accounting laws)

  • System logs and backups (retained temporarily for security, then automatically deleted)

Retention periods

  • Personal data not subject to legal retention will be deleted immediately upon your request.

  • Backups containing fragments of your data will be securely overwritten within [e.g., 30 days].

  • Legal and financial records are kept for up to [5 years] as required by the South African Companies Act and VAT regulations.
